Rising star Emery LeCrone returns to MDT for her second choreographic commission. Nuanced, ingenious and fresh from the stage at just 26, LeCrone contributes several works to the show, including a world premiere. Joanie Smith, 2012 Sage Award recipient for Outstanding Choreography, brings her international reputation for “virtuosity, substance, craft, and pure abandonment” to the repertory performance. And Minnesota Dance Theatre founder Loyce Houlton, after 34 years of creating, teaching and producing dance, is renowned for her Nutcracker Fantasy. She’s also one of the first American women to gain international recognition through her distinct aesthetic and a lasting legacy of trademark repertory. Featured in the show is Knoxville, Summer of 1915, one of Houlton’s own personal favorites.
