Facebook page update

Today the new Facebook timeline format went live.  I’m not loving the new layout but I don’t have control over the matter.  I do still really like the Facebook page because it’s an easy way to connect with the people who read my blog.  If you read this site regularly, I’d like to encourage you to become a fan on Facebook and to use the like button to provide me with feedback!  It’s very helpful to see what posts you want to read (or don’t care about) via that feature.

$8 for two tickets to The Sports Show

Today’s Groupon is $8 for two tickets to ‘The Sports Show’ at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts (reg. $16).  Track the evolution of sport from past time to spectacle and see how sports images express ideas about power and politics, culture and race, fans and fanatics.

$25 for a canoeing trip for two

Looking for an outdoor adventure with minimal equipment cost and experience required?  If so, grab today’s Google Offer.  Today’s offer is an 8 mile canoe trip for two for only $25 (Reg. $50).

When it comes to outdoor adventure, it’s obvious that “wild and scenic” tops “dull and ugly.” But what might not be immediately clear is what it takes for a piece of river to get dubbed “wild and scenic” by the Department of Natural Resources. Find out by floating down eight miles of such a stretch in a two-person canoe courtesy of Clear Waters Outfitting Company. With undeveloped shores, clear, gentle water, and ample opportunity for spotting eagles and other rare birds, the remote expanse of the Mississippi between Clearwater and Monticello is ideal for paddling, relaxing, and enjoying the pristine natural landscape. This serene two to three hour adventure is sure to take your appreciation for one of the state’s greatest resources to a whole new level.

FYI- Clearwater is only an hour NW of Minneapolis.

Artcrank

Artcrank is back!  If you love affordable bike art, this event is for you.

ARTCRANK returns to its Warehouse District roots with an Opening Night Party on Saturday, April 14. The 2012 edition of ARTCRANK MSP will feature hand-made, bike-inspired posters created by 40 local artists. Admission is free, and limited edition, signed and numbered copies of all posters will be available for $40 each.

Enjoy craft beers by Widmer Brothers Brewing in exclusive ARTCRANK pint glasses — all proceeds benefit Springboard for the Arts.

Riding to the show? Clif Bar and One On One Bike will provide free valet bike parking.

Metro Magazine is wrangling a small army of your favorite food trucks and carts to tempt your palate.

Neenah Paper and Big Table Studio are teaming up to create something three-dimensionally biketastic that we’re keeping under wraps for now…

Our soundtrack will be provided by The Current, with a special appearance by Mayda. So yeah, you want to be there.

And hey, if you’re looking for something to do with the kids, get the day started at the ARTCRANK Family Party, hosted by Clockwork from 3:00 – 5:00, with obstacle course races, safety games and demonstrations, and enough fun and prizes to keep everyone cranking all afternoon.
