I’ve been wanting to try Burger Moe’s for months after hearing about their Monday special in which all burgers on the  menu are $5.  Whether you’re in the mood for a salmon burger, lamb burger, tukey burger, bison burger or fancy hamburger, they are all $5.

I tried the Denny Burger, which had a fried egg, thick apple smoked bacon & cheddar cheese.  The Denny Burger was really good but I don’t think the egg was actually fried.  I think it was poached because it wasn’t at all crispy and actually had a thick edge, which really isn’t as good on a burger.  I just took it off and enjoyed the burger sans egg.  For an egg to taste good on a burger, it has to have those crispy edges.  My husband ordered the Juicy Moe Burger having a cheesy, onion filled center.  The burgers were juicy and the buns were fresh.  The bacon was crispy and the fries were good too.  It’s a solid meal but there are so many great burgers in the Twin Cities that I can’t say Burger Moe’s is a “must try” restaurant.  They may not be the best burgers in the Twin Cities but they are awfully tasty and a bargain at $5.  Click here to see a full menu.

Unfortunately there are no happy hour specials applicable during this $5 burger special, which is lame considering their website touts “Two Happy Hours 7 days a week”  and “Enjoy $3 Martinis During Happy Hour on Monday.” You’ve been warned…

We had a really good meal at a great price because we just ordered waters.  If we would have ordered full priced drinks, it would have been good, but not an unbelievable deal.

One great thing about Burger Moe’s is the patio.  It’s quite large, is well shaded and is pretty quiet.  If you plan to try this $5 special, go while it’s still patio season.

Travel & Leisure just named the Twin Cities the #7 best city in the Nation to grab a burger.  In support of this ranking, they cite the burger from Vincent.  Vincent’s burger is made of ground beef, braised short ribs, smoked gouda cheese. Ooooh hell yes!

Regularly this burger is a whopping $14 but you can try one for just $8 during happy hour!

Every Monday night is burger night at Hazel’s in Northeast Minneapolis.  You can get a cheeseburger with your choice of cheese for just $4.  Happy hour also runs until 6pm and features wine for $4, tap beer for $3 and $2 off all appetizers (including bleu cheese and bacon fries for $3.50).  The fries are enough to easily serve two people and are incredibly delicious.  The hand cut fries are served with lots of thick, smoky bacon, bleu cheese crumbles and dressing for dipping.  I was also floored by the incredible pours at Hazels (see below).  I pretty much got two glasses of wine for $4!  The burgers were quite noteworthy considering the price.  They’re cooked to perfection – totally juicy and served on a buttery fresh bun.  This is the second time I’ve had an amazing burger here so I know it’s no fluke.  My husband and I left here stuffed and happy for just $25 including tax and tip.  This is a really great option for great food at a budget price.

Really great burger and fries

Try me and you won’t be disappointed!

I had the pleasure of attending a Yelp event last night held at the new Republic at Seven Corners in Minneapolis.  At this event, I got to try the juiciest hamburger I’ve ever tasted.  There was plenty of great food at this event but the burger stood out.  I’m not much of a food expert but I do know a good burger.  Republic’s burger is made from local, grass-fed beef and was so juicy that it was glistening from every angle.  It’s truly impressive and made for an absolutely delicious burger.  I know it wasn’t a fluke either because I had about three sliders and they were all equally as amazing.  They also make their own ketchup since from the bottle clearly won’t do when you’re paying this much attention to a hamburger!

I feel in love with the aged cheddar, bacon and carmelized onion burger but they also feature:

  • red wine reduction, brie
  • guacamole and pico de gallo
  • St. Pete’s bleu cheese, bacon
  • Garlic confit, tomato, aioli

Al burgers are $9 and can be ordered as a turkey burger for no extra charge.  My husband went gaga for their turkey burger but I couldn’t diverge from the drool-worthy beef.

DEAL ALERT: Get a hamburger for $5 during happy hour from 4-6pm daily.
