It’s that time of year again!  This week the Nicollet Mall farmers market starts up!  The downtown St. Paul outdoors farmers market will resume May 4th!

The Nicollet Mall market is held on Thursdays and the St. Paul Farmer’s Market is held on Saturdays and Sundays.

Fresh and local tastes better, is better for the environment and is better for the local economy.  Check out this article in the Star Tribune for tips on how to do your Thanksgiving shopping at the local farmers markets this weekend.

Winter Farmer’s Markets

I did not know there were farmer’s markets in the Twin Cities in winter but Metromix informs me otherwise. Golden’s Deli in St. Paul hosts a weekly farmer’s market featuring local meat,  fresh eggs, salsa, honey, bakery items, cheese, jams and the like on Saturdays from 9am-1pm from now through April 30

If you want to stay on the Minneapolis side of the river, the Minneapolis Farmer’s Market also offers a wide variety of local meats from beef and lamb to pork and poultry. It opens 9am to noon every other Saturday from now until April.  If the “every-other-Saturday” business is a little hard to keep track of, you can follow them on Twitter for updates.
