With this Groupon offer, receive a 1.5 hour paddle boarding class or a 9 hour paddle board rental for $32 (Reg. $65). The lesson offer can be redeemed in Plymouth or Nisswa, however, the rental option valid only from Nisswa location.  Since Nisswa is located north of St. Cloud, odds are most of my readers will only be able to take advantage of the lesson option.

Free paddle boarding class

The fast-growing sport of stand up paddle boarding (SUP) is a fun, easy way to go play on the water. With minimum equipment, you can paddle anything from ocean surf to lakes and rivers–no waves required. Paddleboarding offers an amazing full body workout and is becoming a favorite cross-training activity for skiers, snowboarders and other athletes. And since you’re standing at your full height, you’ll enjoy excellent views of everything from sea creatures to what’s on the horizon. It’s almost like walking on water! Join Dave from the MN Stand Up Paddleboarders Association to learn how you can get started.

Surfing, Minnesota-style

“It mystifies me that it’s taken so long to get here, because we have all this flat water,” said Larry Freeman, owner of the Scuba Center in Minneapolis, which rents and sells paddleboards. “Now it’s exploding and it’s going to get huge.”

To find out all the details on paddle boarding and how you can participate, see this Star Tribune article!  On a day like this, I’d really hope to fall over and get dunked.
