May 25th marks the opening of the mini-golf course at the Science Museum!  Best of all, it’s only $5 per person between 5pm and 10pm and you don’t have to purchase museum admission!

The Big Back Yard includes a nine-hole EarthScapes miniature golf course that provides a fun—and challenging—way to learn how water moves from mountains to oceans and shapes the landscape along the way. With water hazards like you’ve never seen before, this 30,000 square-foot course demonstrates that rivers and streams are alive and ever-changing!

Today is the last day for the Friends School Plant Sale and all plants are 30% off!  I went to this sale Friday and was completely amazed at the selection of plants available.  I was also impressed that the prices were quite reasonable.  30% off is a great deal.  Time to stock up on annuals, perennials, cacti/succulents, fruits/veggies, trees/shrubs and even some rare and exotic varieties of plants! Click here for discussion on what’s still left.

Mother’s Day Bonsai Show

The Minnesota Bonsai Society Mother’s Day Bonsai Show is a unique opportunity to see privately owned bonsai.  Bonsai are ‘trees in pots’ and are an ancient art form from Japan that blends artistic vision and horticultural expertise.  Each bonsai represents nature in miniature and creates appreciation for the aesthetic of great age and rugged form.

David Hanbury, creator of The Women in Crisis Film Series, has a new show coming out!  Discount tickets are available via Goldstar ($9-12 + fees, Reg. $24).  I asked David who would enjoy this show and he replied “GLBT’s, hipsters, young straight couples looking for something adventurous and fun!”

The inimitable antics of Mrs. Smith, aka David Hanbury, are on full display in her latest one-woman musical-comedy extravaganza, live at Camp Bar. The cat lady’s got her claws out when it comes to describing her experience on America’s Got Talent during this story- and song-filled evening of entertainment, while she and her Broadway Boys belt out some of Broadway’s biggest hits, including “Cabaret,” “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” “The Cat That Got Away” and “The Ladies Who Lunch.” And the grand dame has also been known to shred a few electric guitar solos as well.
