Dining with the Ancestors

In this heartfelt one-act play, actor Vivian has more questions than answers after a phone call with her mother and news of yet another Black life taken too soon. She begins a fervent prayer for guidance, which summons three Black ancestors: civil rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer; lawyer and Episcopal priest Pauli Murray; and quilter Harriet Powers. As they share stories and wisdom from the past, will Vivian’s soul-searching questions about artistry and activism be answered?

This call-to-action story features powerful performances by Simone Bernadette, Aimee K. Bryant, Erin Nicole Farsté, Greta Oglesby and Regina Marie Williams, plus an original song by Thomasina Petrus. Join us for the virtual premiere on Sunday, March 14 at 7 p.m. and stay for the post-show discussion with members of the cast and creative team moderated by Kelli Foster Warder.
