Free Ink Day is coming up – named best free activity!

Highpoint & Open Eye Figure Theatre present a day of printing and puppetry for your delight.  Mark your calendar now to take part in a Highpoint Free Ink Day on Saturday, July 23 from 1 – 4 pm.  Four times a year Highpoint invites the community to an afternoon of hands-on printmaking and creative fun. At these free, public events visitors of all ages make prints to take home. Since 2002 Free Ink Days have been an opportunity for the community to create unique, hand made artwork. All materials for the planned activity are supplied by Highpoint – just bring your creativity and be ready to get inky! Past activities have included monoprinting and relief block printing.  This event is so fantastic it’s been named the Best Free Activity of 2011 by City Pages.

After making some art, enjoy a show by Open Eye out in HP’s parking lot at 4:30.  You’ll see The Adventures of Juan Bobo. Inspired by Puerto Rican folk stories, the show combines puppetry, music, Spanish and English in a delightful tale of riddles, silly devils, a missing pig and a village in need of a hero. Written and designed by Michael Sommers naturally, and part of Open Eye’s Driveway Tour program.
