If you ever wanted to visit the American Swedish Institute, now may be the time.  Their current exhibit Papercut! The Incredible Psaligraphy of Karen Bit Vejle looks very cool!

Denmark rightfully boasts a long tradition of papercutting, or psaligraphy as it is referred to in the technical sense, thanks in large part to the work of H.C. Andersen.  Danish-Norwegian Karen Bit Vejle  repurposes those traditions for a contemporary audience, creating wall-sized works with elaborate and delicate detail. Playful, almost unexpected motifs, like a ballet dancer sharing space with a bulldog, recur throughout her work.

On view now through May 25, 2014.

Museum admission is $9 for adults, $5 for those with a full-time student ID
