Winter Trails Day & Winter 4play

Come on out and join the MN DNR to celebrate national Winter Trails Day. It’s the perfect opportunity for anyone new to snow sports to try snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, geocaching and other outdoor winter activities. There will be plenty to do, so make friends with winter and bring your whole family out to play!

Representatives from local outdoor organizations will be joining Minnesota State Parks and Trails staff at the Snelling Lake Beach Area at Fort Snelling State Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., providing tips, tricks and instructions for how to make the most of winter. Equipment for all activities will be provided, or you can bring your own.

Activities will include:

  • Little Box Sauna
  • Epic snowball fight @2pm
    Snowshoeing
  • Ice sculpting
  • Naturalist-led hikes
  • Free hot cocoa around a bonfire
  • Winter games
  • Cold weather camping tips
  • Learn to build a quinzee
  • Cross-country skiing
  • Skijoring
  • Ice fishing
