Free REI Class: Building your own rain garden
The Bloomington REI along with Great River Greening and Blue Thumb present Build Your Own Rain Garden.
In this fun and informative session, participants will learn rain garden planting best practices and how to plant a rain garden in their own back yard. Rain gardens are intended to collect pollution run off from storm water rushing over roofs, driveways, and other impervious surfaces. Rather than heading into our rivers, lakes, and streams, rain gardens use native flowers and grasses to collect rain water in a shallow depression in your yard. Rain gardens are easy to plant, look great year-round, require almost no maintenance, and have a positive impact on the environment. Adding a rain garden to your yard will also provide food and shelter for wildlife, and give you a garden that’s unique, low maintenance and naturally beautiful!
