Field Trip: Too many fun free activities to try to sum up in one title

There’s an unlimited amount of fun to be had at the Field Trip event hosted by the Walker Art Center & MNArtists.org.

Head out to the Twin Cities’ most spectacular new park for a day of art, nature, and creative play with friends and family. Silverwood Park teams up with mnartists.org to offer a slate of activities: learn how to build a tree fort, get the basics on square-dancing, play with a giant parachute, or join a mega game of Capture the Flag. Hike with a park naturalist or canoe around the lake. Watch professional plein-air painters at work throughout the park—or make your own art at a special edition of Drawing Club, a popular weekly event at Walker Open Field. As the day winds down, enjoy a nature walk with readings by Minnesota poets and writers, a concert by indie power-poppers Wishbook, and acoustic performances at campfires around the park.

Stay for an hour or make a day of it at this back-to-nature celebration of our local artistic community. Enjoy fare from the Silverwood Café and various food trucks, or bring your own picnic (wine and beer are also permitted). Visit mnartists.org/fieldtrip for details, including a concert schedule and event itinerary.
